3 themes, 12 experiments

I’ve been helping leaders develop for over 20 years now. There are heaps of obstacles that lie in wait, ready to trip leaders up as they make their way. And there are 12 that I see come up consistently, no matter where you are in the big adventure. So I’ve designed 12 simple but challenging experiments in response, based around 3 enduring themes:

  • Belonging: Creating a sense of belonging means people show up as better versions of themselves.

  • Challenge: Grow people by challenging them to stretch, try things out and take ownership.

  • Accountability: Show them how their ownership is making impact and they’ll help you take your team to new places.

Experiments are our way of making progress. Whatever happens, an experiment is a temporary state. If it all goes how we hoped, we learn what to repeat and take step forward. If it doesn’t get the outcome we were hoping for, we learn what not to do…which helps us take a step forward.

It’s all about your leadership story

There’s not much point in doing the mahi if you don’t know what it’s in service of. We’ll make mess to make progress. We start with setting up your leadership story - a process to clarify why you are playing this game and what you want to be known for as a leader. When you know that, you can start to plan the adventure.

We share our leadership stories as a group. When we all know why we’re here, we can keep challenging each other to go forward, offer support when things get tricky, and celebrate successes as we go.

The Potent Leaders experiments help you bring your leadership story to life. Some experiments will be just what you need, others will serve you further down the path.

Learning and resources when you want, where you want

Potent Leaders is all about playing the game in the real world. That means we get out of the classroom and try out new approaches in the workplace, with your people, where the stakes are real.

While it’s not for the partly-committed learner, you won’t be left high and dry either. You’ll have a group of 3 or 4 leaders to call on, and the Potent Leaders online platform is available to dive into 24/7. Full of curated content, extra experiment ideas dreamed up and tested by Potent Leaders alumni, and new content added, you’ll have access to library of resources to help you keep making progress.
